ESS™ serves low and moderate income households and communities who are energy burdened and sometimes have to make a choice to "heat or eat". We also build solar arrays for agencies that provide social services such as food, energy, healthcare, housing and refuge so that more of their programming dollars can be spent serving their clients rather than paying utility bills. We build solar arrays for clients who would not otherwise be able to afford a brand new system.
We presently work in Colorado and are expanding into New Mexico.

ESS™ believes in creating partnerships - not competitors. We work with licensed solar installers who are the project lead and handle permitting and inspections at their reular market rates. ESS™ contributes equipment that has been tested to the highest standards and provides volunteer labor to lower system costs. We partner with state energy offices and Habitat for Humanity chapters to fund the balance of install costs. 

It is critical to understand which solar equipment can and cannot be reused in a manner that ensures long-term quality and reliability. ESS™ personnel are represented on the IEC Technical Committee 82 and IEA-PVPS Task 13 to establish standards and recommendations for solar photovoltaic reuse. We partner with Battelle and NREL under a National Science Foundation award to co-lead a user group on solar PV reuse. Cofounder Rich Stromberg is pursuing a PhD on reuse of solar PV systems for social and ecological benefit through the University of Alaska Fairbanks under sponsorship from the Alaska Center for Energy and Power
